“Walk with me Where no one follows” an exhibition of new works by Nadja Martens Most of my works represent self portraits and show an internal scenario. At times my art depicts my observation of the world. Generally though, my art tends to speak about emotional conditions in respect to today’s world and its social and personal challenges. I use subjects from the animal kingdom to symbolize certain feelings and choose an environment that suits the condition of that particular state of being. “The Departure” speaks about choosing one’s own path rather than following a path chosen and expected by external sources. Social rules are being burned as they do not apply anymore once one is in charge of their own will. Away from a safe port and off onto an adventure: one’s very own journey. ~Nadja M.
